Naftogaz Ukrainy jointly with the European Commission has started working out options of European companies' participating in the management of the Ukrainian gas transportation system (GTS) in connection with the appearance of official proposals for such participation, Naftogaz Commercial Director Yuriy Vitrenko has said.

“We have an official proposal [from European companies about the management of Ukraine’s gas transportation system] through the European Commission. We jointly with the EC start working out this option,” he told journalists in Kyiv.

As reported, the law on the reform of the system for the management of the unified gas transportation system of Ukraine came into force on September 10, 2014. According to the law, GTS and underground gas storage facilities remain in state ownership, while now they can be transferred to specially created companies for management. Ukraine will receive a controlling stake in these management companies, while European and American companies can buy the remaining shares.
