Oksana Sokolovska, a lawyer who defended the Russian citizen Yevgeny Yerofeyev in a Ukrainian court, said the Pechersky District Court in Kyiv has registered her libel lawsuit against President Petro Poroshenko and Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoliy Matios.

“The principal demands of the mentioned lawsuit, in which Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Chief Military Prosecutor Anatoly Matios, and the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office act as respondents, include the retraction of the untrue information regarding lawyer Oksana Sokolovska, the defender of Yevgeny Yerofeyev, which was circulated by the president of Ukraine at a press conference on June 3, 2016, and the retraction of the untrue information regarding the said lawyer that was contained in the chief military prosecutor’s televised remarks on June 4, 2016,” Sokolovska said in a statement posted on her website on Friday.

“I wonder how the lawyer’s lawsuit will be considered if problems arose even when it was lodged,” Sokolovska said.
