Polish President Andrzej Duda has said that Poland will support the European integration and Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Ukraine.

“We also stand shoulder to shoulder when Ukraine is going through an extremely difficult time and the complicated conflict in Ukraine’s east and the occupation of Crimea. In this regard, Poland has been and, I believe, will stand together with Ukraine, supporting the European aspirations of Ukraine, as well as its trans-Atlantic aspirations,” he said after a meeting with Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The Polish president recalled that the assistance package for Ukraine was adopted at the NATO summit in Warsaw and said he hoped this package will present substantial assistance to Ukraine.

“I stress once again: security in Central and Eastern Europe, which is our region, will be the element of the European security,” he said.

Duda invited Poroshenko to visit Warsaw on December 2, which is a symbolic day, when Poland recognized Ukraine’s independence.

“Mr. President Poroshenko and I had a good conversation today. I invited Mr. President to Warsaw once again. I hope we will be able to accommodate our schedules for the visit to take place on December 2, on the symbolic date when Poland recognized Ukraine’s independence,” he said.

“I would be very glad if the visit took place on that exact day,” he added.

For his part, Poroshenko said that nothing can destabilize the unity and solidarity of Ukrainian and Polish people.

“Poland was, is and will always be with Ukraine, and today Mr. President clearly confirmed it in his speech at the press conference. Nothing, I emphasize and confirm, nothing can destabilize […] the unity and solidarity of the Ukrainian and Polish people, and this is very important,” he said.
