Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has proposed sending 30 percent of the remainder of green investment for modernization of subway cars of Kyiv's subway system.

Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk said at a cabinet meeting on March 30 that the remaining sum is near Hr 1 billion. Thus, some Hr 300 million could be sent for the modernization of subway cars.

“We need a clear protocol decision: to order the Ecology Ministry jointly with the Economic Development and Trade Ministry to hold negotiations on the use of the remainder of the funds under the Kyoto protocol with private companies. The total sum could be divided into two tranches,” he said.

The prime minister said that the first tranche should be 30 percent of the sum for the modernization of subway cars. The Kyiv City Administration as a participant of the negotiations will be mentioned in the protocol decision.

“70 percent of the sum could be sent to the Interior Ministry for hybrid cars to finish the reform of the National Police,” Yatseniuk said.
