Interior Minister of Ukraine Arsen Avakov supports the creation of a unified power agency – the financial investigation service that will investigate into economic crimes that now the departments for fighting economic crimes in the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) are investigating.

“The police and SBU should not investigate into economic crimes. I support the creation of the financial investigation service that would fully investigate into economic crimes and all these departments for fighting economic crimes in the National Police and SBU are completely closed so that one agency investigates in the economic area,” he said at a meeting of the parliamentary committee for economic policy in response to critics of MP from Samopomich Tetiana Ostrikova that the tax police and National Police overlapping functions.

He said that the prime minister, finance minister and justice minister back the position.

“There is a concept, there are proposals and they are on the table of the Verkhovna Rada,” Avakov said.
