An outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) was recorded at the private household in Khybalivka, Chernihiv region.

Five out of 32 pigs died from June 28 through June 29.

The main department of the State Service for Food Safety and Consumers’ Rights Protection of Ukraine in Chernihiv region reported on June 30 that the examination of the selected samples of biological material at Kyiv’s State Research Institute of Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary Examination on June 30, 2016, diagnosed ASF.

Measures are being taken to localize the disease on the site of the outbreak and prevent the spread of ASF pathogens.

In 2014 and 2015, 24 ASF cases were recorded in Chernihiv region. This is the first case recorded since early 2016.
