GORKI - Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has called on Belarus not to delay resolution of the issues concerning supply of Russian energy resources to that country.

“Together with the accumulated current issues, there is one fairly significant issue. It concerns the situation that has taken shape in the energy resource area, accordingly, in the gas area in the oil supply area,” Medvedev said at the beginning of a meeting with his Belarusian counterpart, Andrei Kobyakov.

“These are issues that you and I are familiar with from the experience of past years. They must not be neglected too much, because then it would be very difficult to find a resolution,” Medvedev said.

While acknowledging the high level of integration between Russia and Belarus, Medvedev said: “There are topics that absolutely must be agreed on, without creating long-term problems and driving the situation into deadlock.”

Russia and Belarus are maintaining a continuous dialog on this issue at various levels, he said.

“Our investors, the deputy prime ministers of the governments are also cooperating, but given that no solution has been worked out yet, we have reached agreement to meet in Moscow and discuss the current situation,” Medvedev said.
